DAWID (Björn Dawidsson) is considered as one of Sweden’s foremost photographers and one of the first to work with conceptual photography. He made his debut in 1973 with the exhibition Ingen älskar mig at Liljevalch’s Art Hall in Stockholm. His major breakthrough was with the exhibition Rost at Moderna Museet in 1983. Since then DAWID has been pushing for conventional concepts and the limits of what is considered photo art. His exceptional work of art has been shown in major galleries and institutions worldwide with solo exhibitions in Stockholm, New York, Paris, Berlin and London. In addition he has published about 30 books and he is represented in some of the foremost art collections in the world. In 2004 DAWID was awarded the Grand Prize from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee for his artistic work and importance in the contemporary world.
