It is a doorway to a jungle. And it is the end of the story. Of all the images I captured here on Ellis Island, none so epitomizes nature's triumph. I felt that had I walked through this door, I might never have been heard from again. Is nature being invited in here, or are we being invited out? The fact is, nature is wild and heavy and thick and mystical, and with the renovation it will never look this way again.
This is a magical moment to which I bore witness, and in my mind the room will always remain this way.
