Robson Bight, B.C., Day to Night™ 2016
I was honored to be invited by the Cetus Society to photograph in Robson Bight, an ecological reserve off the coast of British Columbia, dedicated to protecting the Northern killer whale’s habitat. This unique location is where orcas gather seasonally to rub against the barnacle-covered seabed—a behavior seen nowhere else.
Over 35 hours under a silver moon, I captured this extraordinary interaction, recording the whales’ haunting calls that have stayed with me. As their habitats face increasing threats, places like Robson Bight are vital sanctuaries. This experience deepened my commitment to sharing the stories of these fragile ecosystems, hoping to inspire their preservation for future generations.
