Steeple Jason, Falkland Islands, Day to Night™, 2017
In 2017, I traveled the world on assignment for National Geographic, creating four new Day to Night™ images focused on bird migration. This particular photograph was captured on Steeple Jason over 26 hours, from pre-dawn through the night.
I was fortunate to witness a stunning rainbow at sunrise, just before a brief but intense downpour. The day brought unpredictable weather, but the breathtaking Black-browed Albatross and a few Rockhopper Penguins remained a constant presence, allowing me to document this extraordinary scene.
